Have you noticed how often people blame other people?
Seems like it’s always someone else’s fault. I constantly hear folks blaming their partners, their ex, their kids, their siblings, their parents, teachers, the Government and so on……………..
Now I’m not saying that people don’t behave in ways that are anything from irritating to downright reprehensible, because they do, but what I’m getting at here is that you don’t have to let those people steal your happiness.
Feel your feelings – then move on before your whole day, week, month or even year is ruined. Some people even hold grudges for decades!
If you take the time to slow down and bring your focus to your breath, be fully here and present in this moment, you’ll (mostly) find everything is ok. Right now, what someone else said or did doesn’t have to influence how you feel – that’s a choice you have the ability to make.
Yes, it can be hard to choose happiness when all you want to do is curse and blame someone else because you feel like crap, but unless you learn to take full responsibility for your thoughts and your feelings, you’ll never be free and will remain a victim, sadly wallowing in your circumstances.
Peace and happiness come from noticing how you’re feeling, taking responsibility for it then acting accordingly. The difference between taking specific, wisely chosen action or reacting is huge. One brings freedom – the other – you’re in a prison of your own making.
The trick is to stop blaming others and, stop blaming yourself. Taking responsibility for your feelings means accepting yourself and others, minus judgement, which is, stepping up to maturity and becoming a more kind and compassionate being.
Blame is a trap and will bring all manner of unnecessary and unwanted stresses your way.
Quit blaming and Every Day Gets Better.
