How do you earn your income?
I’m not meaning to get personal or ask prying type questions, but I believe there’s probably never been a more important time for us to question not just the product choices we make, but also how we generate our income.
There’s many extremely wealthy people who give large sums of money to charities but sadly run businesses and often large corporations that are doing great harm to humans, animals and the earth. It seems like a contradiction to me – giving donations to green non-for-profits while polluting the earth on a daily basis with their business. I guess it makes a difference but my take on these issues is always start with yourself first.
Do the best you can to recycle effectively, stay away from synthetic chemicals where possible, choose Certified Organic for your daily needs (food, clothing, body care, household products etc), go plant based vegan or eat way less animal products, plant trees, grow your own veggie garden, ride your bike or walk when you can rather than taking your car, change over to an electric vehicle, install solar on your roof, perhaps a water tank etc. Maybe we can’t be perfect, but with awareness and even a small change in habits, we can make a positive difference, one day at a time because there are so many efficient and effective ways to lower your carbon footprint.
You can also change how you generate your income.
Does your place of work have an environment/sustainability policy in place? Do they encourage recycling and energy saving methods? If not, maybe you can make some helpful suggestions. If you have your own business, do you have these practices in place? We buy a take out meal sometimes from a local cafe and we always take our own bowls (the same ones they use for their take aways), a carry bag and we have our own cutlery in the car. Surprisingly, the staff have told us we’re the only ones who do that. We’re now encouraging them to suggest this to other customers. How easy is it to wash your own bowls and take them back next time you eat out. Perhaps in some places there may be health and hygiene rules but if it’s a small, local cafe like ours, try it.
Another big way to help save on energy and create less pollution is to work from home, which since the pandemic days has become more popular but if your business or industry is still polluting and using synthetic chemicals, especially in manufacturing and you’d like to get away from that, here’s a business you can become involved with to build an income online. This is a beautiful, genuine ‘heart centered’ company, helping people to prosper while giving to those in need.ย https://dalegreenwoodonline.com/
