Does money make people happier?
Perhaps a question that’s maybe a bit too complex to fully answer in just a few paragraphs, but for people who struggle financially, you can be pretty sure they would say “yes, more money would definitely make me feel happier”.
I wonder what wealthy people would say? Does money make them happier? I’ve noticed there are quite a few extremely wealthy people in the world who appear to be very unhappy, so maybe these people might say no, their money hasn’t made them happier.
I love the Kadampa Buddhism definition of happiness, which says ‘Happiness depends upon a peaceful mind. Happiness is defined as the experience of pleasant feelings that arise from mental peace’. Isn’t that just so lovely!
Of course, happiness can be experienced regardless of one’s financial situation, but with little or no money and bills piling up, plus the expenses of a comfortable home and the daily costs of living a healthy life for you and your family, happiness and peace of mind can often be lost amongst the pressures and stresses of lacking regular, substantial and secure income sources.
Even people with well paying jobs and a regular income can fear losing their jobs in our unstable economy. Fear and worry then creates more stress.
Many families suffer not just because of lack of substantial income but also by having to work long hours away from loved ones just to generate enough money to live even a reasonably comfortable lifestyle, let alone prosper.
I find this sad and it’s my mission to help others to live a more prosperous, peaceful and happy life.
I believe it’s definitely easier to maintain a peaceful mind if you no longer fear for your security and safety (especially if you’re in your senior years, like me) and I’m grateful to be learning how to work successfully online – and you can too.
Working on your own business from the comfort of your own home, with a great mentor helping you with every step along the way, can be another way to ensure Every Day Gets Better. 😀
