I’m not fond of so-called celebrities.
I don’t mean any particular individuals (although there are a few that I don’t resonate well with), but I’m talking about the whole celeb thing of one human being worshipping another just because they have achieved some sort of fame and fortune.
Yes, there are some famous people, including actors/actresses/pop stars etc who perhaps deserve the general public’s adulation, but in my opinion, most don’t. You will mostly find that the ones with real talent, who have spent years developing their skills, prefer to remain out of the spotlight as much as possible and they shun the pressures that fame can bring. They maintain good strong relationships and a reasonably normal lifestyle.
And you know what – all of us are celebrities and superstars anyway!
I’d rather heap praise on the people out there in the suburbs and beyond who are dealing with a myriad of day to day challenges with their families, finances, health issues, jobs that take up so much time and energy, educating and nurturing kids, supporting family members going through hard times and generally going about their business with little recognition and certainly no great fame and fortune.
Is this perhaps why the huge fuss over celebrities exists?
Are everyday people simply craving more recognition and encouragement for what they accomplish each day, week, month, year? Do we long to just be ourselves and have people not just accept us as we are, but applaud us as we make progress and master our life lessons?
Yes, of course celebrities have their challenges too but growing, maturing and achieving goals is a good deal harder when the lessons are steeper and we weren’t born with the silver spoon in our mouths.
Personally, although my background certainly wasn’t blessed with education on how to live life happily or in a prosperous manner, I wouldn’t swap my lot for all the fame and fortune in the world.
No matter how hard I may find life at times, I adore making progress, step by step, one day at a time and then stopping to recognise the person I have become and what I’ve achieved, despite my lack of education and many, many setbacks. And, I truly value my privacy and the freedom to create without the world constantly ogling me and expecting me to be perfection itself.
So, all my fellow “everyday souls”, take a moment (or several!) to be proud of who you are and what you do on a daily basis to enhance your own life and the lives of those around you – no matter how small you may think your contribution is.
I guarantee it’s much bigger than you give yourself credit and recognition for and if you cease beating yourself up for awhile for all the things you think you haven’t done, or haven’t got, you’ll see a wonderful person doing their best to live well and contribute to society in a positive manner.
Take your focus off those who’s egos are perhaps a tad over inflated and create more joy and peace in your day by giving yourself the kudos you so richly deserve.
Enjoy your life more as EVERY DAY GETS BETTER!
