Well Christmas is over for another year.
I’m thankful.
I don’t participate in Christmas – I don’t like it much at all. It’s not my concern what others do, (although for the environment and the animals, I do think less over the top consuming would be healthier and kinder) but as a lover of peace and quiet, it’s not something I warm to. I’m not a fan of buying ‘stuff’ just because a tradition tells me I should. I’ve observed that the true, original meaning of Christmas has predominantly been replaced by commercialism and sadly, quite often, greed.
When I give gifts, they’re thoughtful and not harmful to humans, animals or the environment and won’t end up in landfill. If Christmas giving adhered to this and was more about peace than rush and chaos, I might be more ok with it. The Christmas season to me, means peace and gratitude and hopefully time with loved ones.
I’m thankful I know myself and my values and I’m thankful I follow them.
My response to Christmas, as in every other day of the year is THANKFULNESS.
Did you take a moment or two over Christmas to give sincere, meaningful THANKS for all you have?
It saddens me at times when I see people on social media sharing all their negative thoughts and feelings with not even a word of gratitude for all they have.
The more you focus on what you believe you haven’t got, or what you think is ‘wrong’ with you and your life, the worse you’ll feel.
Honestly, it doesn’t take much at all to shift your thoughts from what you think and believe is wrong with you and your situation, to thinking about all that is right. It takes practice and some awareness to remember to do it regularly, but as you continue to shift your thoughts, it gets easier and you’ll definitely feel better and have a more enhanced experience of life. Don’t berate yourself when you find yourself focussing on what you don’t want – it’s a long learned habit – just commit to changing the habit and be kinder to yourself. You will begin to feel more naturally joyful and see things as opportunities, rather than problems and that in itself lowers your stress levels and makes life way more enjoyable.
Start the new year by consciously choosing to celebrate all you have, all you are, practice being THANKFUL and Every Day Gets Better. 😀❤️
