My number ONE tip would be – Calm Down.
Not just think about it, but really, consciously practice calming down.
Each and every day, take notice of your ‘rush’ habits and set about changing them, one at a time.
Begin your day, the minute you wake, with a few slow, deep breaths and remind yourself to start each day minus the rushing. It’s just a habit and it doesn’t help you get things done faster or easier and in fact, rushing can cause you to forget things, feel confused, overwhelmed and even anxious. Unfortunately it can also cause ‘accidents’.
Throughout your day, stop and check with yourself regularly asking ‘am I taking my time or hurrying to get things done?’ If you notice that hurry/rush energy happening – deliberately stop and take three slow deep breaths (or more if needed). It can be helpful to say ‘I calm my body’ (as you breathe in), ‘I relax’ (as you breathe out).
This may not seem like much as it’s a pretty simple thing to do but if you get into the habit of practicing this often, you’ll feel less stressed, more in control and happier. Way to go!
Number TWO tip is – practice SELF love.
This is not connected in any way to romantic love or co-dependant ‘love’ but just pure, honest, unconditional acceptance, approval and enthusiastic appreciation of what a magnificent creation you are.
This can be best achieved by viewing everything you do and think by asking yourself ‘is this being kind to myself?’ When you slow down and calm down, taking nice deep breaths, you’ll gain more awareness into how you treat yourself and many people come to recognise they can be so unkind to themselves, which often brings unwanted circumstances. Making kinder choices gives you a better chance to feel more at ease and actually have a more enjoyable life.
The essence of YOU, the real YOU, the YOU that is pure loving kindness energy (the way you were born) is within YOU. You are not your ego, your beliefs, what other people say or do towards you, not what society says you are or should be. That’s all fabricated and you’re conditioned to believe it. You’re not your educational degrees or what you do for a living. You’re not what kind of home you live in or how much money you earn or have accumulated and you’re not who you’re in a relationship with or what children you’ve produced and raised.
These are all simply choices you’ve made based on your beliefs about how life should or shouldn’t be. They are not right or wrong – they are just decisions you’ve come up with because you believed they would bring happiness. Maybe they did, maybe not, but hopefully you’ve learnt more about yourself along the way.
The real, authentic You, is that all powerful inner being that lives fully in each moment, doesn’t judge oneself or others and knows that all is well – even when outer circumstances appear differently. You are a spiritual being, in a body – not the other way around and therefore you are capable of dealing with life in a calm and confident manner.
“You are an infinite spiritual being having a temporary human experience.” well said Wayne W. Dyer
Number THREE – choose Happiness.
Not the fake stuff but the real McCoy.
True happiness cant be bought, chased, given to you by someone else, obsessed about or achieved in any way other than creating it from within yourself. It’s always there – it never leaves you – you just forget to tap into it and appreciate that it’s an ongoing, amazing resource you have in order to live a peaceful, fulfilling life.
Every day, if you purposely choose to find things to be happy about, (and there’s so many!) your natural happiness will grow, your negative self talk and complaining will diminish and life will become simpler, happier and more peaceful and from this state of being, we can accomplish even more great things to help change the world.
All beings want happiness and if we learn how to slow down and have daily times of stillness and quietness and be truly grateful for all we are, all we have and all we’re capable of, and, focus on this consistently, Every Day Gets Better.
I wish you a peaceful, happy New Year filled with Loving Kindness towards yourself and others.
