Choosing Certified Organic means you’re doing your best for your skin, body and health and doing your part to help animals and the environment. Make sure your products don’t contain animal ingredients and really are cruelty free.
What you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream. Eww! Who wants nasty toxic synthetic chemicals added to your beautiful blood and body! Certified Organic ingredients are packed with antioxidants and active plant nutrients and manufactured following the highest standards of quality and purity, giving you lasting healthy goodness for your skin and body.
Did you know that studies even showed that certain environmental and chemical toxins may alter your brain in ways that help set depression in motion? (see link below).
The primary reason I choose to use Certified Organic products in and on my body is simple. I want to give my body and mind the best chance to function optimally. I want to maintain a peaceful mind and a healthy body and I prefer to be respectful of our environment and animals in all my choices where possible.
It brings me peace of mind to know I’m not contributing to more harm on our planet. Of course, we can’t be perfect, but when it’s possible to make healthier choices, I’m all for it.
Often skin and body care products come in pretty packaging with fresh nature scenes suggesting good health and glowing skin. Yes, they look great, but it’s what’s inside the bottle that counts, not how great the company’s marketing and design team has made it look.
The beauty industry thrives on marketing gimmicks specifically created to fool people into believing their product is best when actually they don’t give a hoot about your health or the health of our planet. They are mostly using cheap, often toxic synthetics and ingredients that are anything but natural, despite what their attractive packaging suggests. They are in it to make money – that’s it.
Sadly, despite what some companies would have you believe, even those called Natural and Organic are often far from either. Without Organic Certification, products will generally contain some, or a lot of, synthetic chemicals. Also, many of these companies claim their products are free from animal testing, which if they contain synthetic ingredients, isn’t the truth. The company itself may not test their products on animals, but most of the synthetic chemical ingredients have been tested on animals. Choosing Certified Organic, where the label has to state clearly what’s actually in the product is the best way to ensure the safety you want for your own health and that of your loved ones, plus you can make a cruelty free choice.

Australian Certified Organic:
Australian Certified Organic is one of the largest, most well-known and perhaps most stringent accreditation body for organic produce and products in Australasia. An ACO accreditation gives you independent assurance that the ingredients in your beauty products are ethically produced and genuinely organic.
An Australian Certified organic product is made using a production process free from pesticides, artificial fertilisers and synthetic chemicals. Only organic ingredients are used wherever they are reasonably available. The non-organic ingredients must not include petrochemicals, synthetic colours/fragrances, parfums, or be made using harsh chemical processes such as hydrogenation and sulfuration, Naturally-mined minerals, clays, chalks, pumice and salts are allowed. All products and their ingredients may not be tested on animals.
ACO has two categories for accrediting organic products:
Certified Organic: The product contains a minimum of 95% certified organic ingredients (not including salts and water) while the remaining 5% is made up of other ACO approved natural ingredients.
Made with Certified Organic ingredients: The product contains 70–95% Certified Organic ingredients (not including salt and water) while the remaining ingredients are sourced from ACO approved, non-organic but natural origins.

My favourite products I’ve been using and recommending since 2003 are Miessence and their umbrella company one.organic. I fully endorse this company because not only are they a Certified Organic company, but they are fully committed to all areas of health and sustainability. one.organic was the first company in the world to introduce a Certified Organic extensive range of skin and body care products and their exemplary and innovative sustainability practices are second to none. No expense is spared in bringing you the highest quality, effective and beautiful products without compromising on caring for humans, animals and our earth.
Note: one or two of the cosmetic products contain organic beeswax. The bees are definitely not harmed but being vegan, I don’t use these particular products. Everything else is fully vegan.
